Villa la Guardiola – Marciana (LI) Isola d’Elba

ISLAND OF ELBA

Procchio’s Guardiola Park

The home of the Guardiola (Lodge), that overlooks the Gulf of Procchio, was originally a Coast Guard checkpoint, as evidenced by the numerous loopholes preserved. It seems that construction dates back to the early 1600s. A panoramic and unique observation point that was bought from the State Property Agency by the engineer Mario Camerini, father of Giuseppe, in 1953. The house was renovated by the Camerini family in 1975 to make it habitable, then began the gradual acquisition of land, at first close and then less close to the property, finally arriving at around 26 hectares, which Giuseppe Camerini lovingly cared for throughout his life.

Thanks to his tireless maintenance work, Guardiola Park has become real jewel in the heart of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park over the years. A special place that the Foundation aims at safeguarding and protecting, thanks also to the help of those who love Elba and its lands. Giuseppe Camerini included his installations and works of art in the Park and visitors are invited to discover these while walking, with respect for the local flora and fauna, taking care of the woods, just like him.

The property is included in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.
